The band Bush knew about 9/11 months before it happened, and they made a half-ass attempt to warn us through song.
September 8, 2001: While I was younger, under the employment of Papa Nonz, I was delivering awesomeness and pepperoni to college students and dumbass tourists, when all of a sudden, the latest song from Bush debuted on the local radio station. The song was called "Speed Kills," and me being a child of the 90's, I jammed it and enjoyed it while reminiscing of the days before emo existed.
September 11, 2001: After a long hard night of delivering (and eating) pizza and drinking Nonzweisers afterwards, I received a phone call in my sleep saying that New York had been attacked. 9/11 was unfolding, and I happened to be off from work. I went for a ride, and Speed Kills came on the radio yet again. Like an ominous sign.
September 13, 2001: Bush decides that Speed Kills, which was to be included on an upcoming album, was to be changed to The People That We Love.
So now that you have the history of this song in relation to 9/11, let's look at the facts.
1. The song is, or was originally called, Speed Kills. Speeding jets crashed into the skyscrapers and Killed 3000 people.
2. The album upon which Speed Kills was to be released was called Golden State. Deserts are golden, and the terrorists came from countries that had lots of deserts, or looked like Golden States.
3. Why change the name of the song? A guilty conscience? Or perhaps covering up their tracks?
If that's not enough, let's break down the lyrics.
"Speed kills
Coming down the mountain
Speed kills
Coming down the street"
Afghanistan has mountains, and New York has streets. That's a dead giveaway.
"The things we do
To the people that we love
The way we break
If there's something we can't take
Destroy the world
That we took so long to make"
The people that we love is a reference to the Muslims that were ironically killed in the attack. Don't tell me there weren't any Muslims at the WTC that day. And by taking out the towers, it was attempt to destroy the way of life that took forever to make.
"We expect her gone
For some time
I wish her safe from harm
To find yourself
In a foreign land
Another refugee
Outsider refugee"
The terrorists were foreign, and they could be seen as refugees in this foreign land. My critical reading skills rock.
You know, I thought this would be challenging, but this is getting to be too easy. The rest of you morons should be able to make the connection. What's next, Osama making an appearance on the next Bush album? The band wearing turbans on their next tour? Save yourself while you can, Bush has aligned with the terrorists and we are all fucked.
